SHERQ & Sustainability Integration Executive

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Curious. Grounded. Joyful (With a dash of caffeine and a love for PowerPoints.)

How would you describe your day job to a child?

I help make sure the food in big fridges stays safe, the people working around it stay healthy, and the planet doesn’t get too warm while we do it. Basically, I’m part of superhero team for warehouses, trucks, and the Earth.

Why did you choose to be part of the Vector Logistics’ team?

Vector stood out as a purpose-driven business with heart. Plus, who wouldn’t want to be part of a team that keeps the cold chain cool and the values even cooler?

What excites you about this role?

The chance to shape how safety, sustainability, and performance come together in a fast-paced, high-impact industry. Every day is a new puzzle, and I get to solve it with passionate people who care deeply about what they do.

How would you describe a high-performance organisation?

It’s where purpose meets precision. A place where people are empowered, systems are smart, and values are lived, not laminated. It’s not just about doing things fast, it’s about doing the right things, together.

How do you keep yourself/your team motivated?

By celebrating small wins, staying curious, and remembering why we do what we do. Also, coffee. Lots of coffee. And occasionally, a good dad joke to lighten the mood.

Do you have a mentor/coach?

Yes, I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors over the years, some formal, some accidental. I believe in the power of shared wisdom and paying it forward.

Given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

David Attenborough. Imagine narrating the logistics world like a nature documentary: “Here we see the warehouse team, gracefully manoeuvring pallets in their natural habitat…”

If you were the CEO for a day, what would you change or introduce?

I’d launch a “Walk in My Shoes” initiative — where leaders spend a day in frontline roles. It builds empathy, breaks silos, and reminds us that every role is vital to our success. Also, maybe a sustainability, themed food truck for lunch. Why not?

On a lighter note…

What is your most memorable facepalm (embarrassing) moment?

During a very serious safety audit, my stomach decided to host its own protest - loudly. The auditor paused, looked at me, and said, “Is that part of the risk register?” I now carry snacks like they’re PPE.

When was the last time you laughed so hard?

Yesterday. And probably again today. I believe every day offers at least one moment to crack a joke, share a smile, and embrace the chaos with humour and grace.

What is your guilty pleasure?

A perfectly crisp chicken samoosa with mild chilli, preferably at midnight, paired with a good movie or a rerun of The Office. It’s my crunchy little secret.

What is one thing people do not know about you?

I’m a scientist by education, trained in the art of asking “why” and “how” until the answers make sense. It’s probably why I love systems, sustainability, and solving complex puzzles.

If you could invite one famous person (dead or alive) to dinner, who would it be and why?

Charlie Chaplin - the father of modern comedy. He made the world laugh during some of its darkest times, proving that humour is not just entertainment, but healing. I’d love to hear how he used silence, expression, and wit to lift spirits and challenge norms. In a world where mental wellness is vital, his legacy reminds us that a smile can be revolutionary and sometimes, laughter really is the best medicine.
